We all want to receive thousands of visitors to our website, but visitors don’t mean anything if they leave right away. It can be a difficult task to keep people interested and persuade them to buy your product, but I’ve got seven magical tips that may be able to help you make visitors customers.

1. Know your Customers and Create Goals
It is crucial to really understand what customers want from your business and then make goals to reach their expectations. If you have products that sell fast and are constantly out of stock, you may need to create a better plan to be sure you purchase more of that product. If customers have repeatedly mentioned something about your website that they would like to have added, maybe it is time to start listening. Take the time to find out what customer needs you aren’t fulfilling and create a plan to solve the problem.

2. Communicate Effectively
Communication is one of the most important elements to becoming and remaining successful. If there are typos, missing product descriptions, inaccurate data, or just plain unprofessional content on your website, no one is going to want to do business with you. Be professional and make sure to proofread everything because it only takes one mistake to turn someone off. Creating an FAQ for your website is also necessary to ensure that there are no unanswered questions that could potentially lead someone to choosing a competitor.

3. Be Free of Clutter
When customers visit your site what do they see? Is it a clean and organized framework or a crowded and confusing mess? The feeling people get when they access your site will determine how they view your business. Don’t put too much information on your homepage because in this area less can sometimes be more. Place the most important information above the scroll so that you don’t need to scroll down to find it. You want people to go to your site, be able to find exactly what they need, and not get lost in the process. If people can’t find what they are looking for fast enough they will go somewhere where they can.

4. Use Metrics Then Make Changes
Understanding how long people stay on your page, what they purchase the most of and other metrics like these can give you an idea of what is working and what needs to be fixed. It may be that displaying featured products on your homepage initiates more orders for those products. Understanding what pages people aren’t accessing can help you see how to improve the navigation of your site. In order to figure out what needs to be changed it is crucial that you evaluate the activity of your website visitors.

5. Use Statistics & Case studies
People like to know that what they are getting is truly going to work and you can reassure them of this by using statistics and case studies. Statements like “Our hand soap eliminates 99.9% of germs” is attractive and generates more sales. People love to hear numbers, so adding in some statistics about your products may prove beneficial. Comparing your products and services to those of a competitor can also help since it explains why you are better and more deserving. Testimonials are also a great way to show how your business has worked for someone else and can benefit someone new too.

6. Offer a Free Subscription
Asking visitors for their e-mail address can help customers get to know you and keep in touch for future reference. Offer some type of newsletter or blog subscription that people would be interested in receiving updates about. If you capture their attention with creative content, they may be more likely to visit your site later on.

7. Go the Extra Mile
One way to do this is to add video to your site. Physically show people what they will get when they buy your products or service. Pictures are great, but a video can show much more. Another thing is to create an impressive about us page. Instead of following a generic, boring template, add interesting information that attracts attention. The little things sometimes make the biggest difference.
