Effective Marketing Strategies with an influential brand that stands out is not an easy task. It requires hard work and endless amounts of trial and error. What is it exactly that makes one brand so much better than another? That is not a simple question with just one answer, it really depends on so many elements and how they all work together. There are plenty of well-known companies today that are perfect examples of great branding. Let’s take a look at Effective Marketing Strategies  in a few brands that have created praise-worthy campaigns.

Oreo

Oreo recently reached their 100th birthday and in celebration released their birthday cake cookies. They have also had cookies in the shape of Elvis and with red cream and track marks for the Mars landing (seen above). These physical changes to their cookies from time to time are a fresh way to stay competitive and a very effective branding technique. Oreo makes changes that are creative yet simple and consistent which is what seems to keep them on top. The fact that they inject culture into their brand is what bridges the connection between the product and the consumer. It not only serves as a conversation starter, but it attracts people to the brand and further encourages them to purchase it.

Old Spice

Old Spice is a perfect example of effective viral advertising. They always have interesting commercials that get people talking. Their off the wall advertising intrigues people and makes you want to watch the entire commercial just to see what will happen. Right now they have a commercial with actor, Terry Crews, where every time he moves his muscles it plays a tune on an instrument. Towards the end, he starts flexing a bunch of his muscles and creates a full song. It definitely sounds strange, but out of the box ideas like those are what get people interested. Providing entertainment is an excellent branding technique, but finding ways to do this successfully is what is so difficult for many brands. Old Spice masters this well and offers extras on their website such as ringtones, computer wallpapers, and other downloads for free. They have one of the most visited sponsored channels on YouTube and had reached 80,000 Twitter followers in just 2 days.

Starbucks

Starbucks has an amazing social media marketing plan that puts them on top. One of their campaigns asked their customers for ideas to shape the future of Starbucks. Starbucks would then take these ideas into consideration and implement those that were most favorable to them. This was a great way for them to get free ideas all while pleasing those whose ideas got chosen. They took the personal approach by reaching out to their customers and listening to their feedback. Social media has changed the way businesses market and has allowed interaction between company and customer to skyrocket. We all want to feel involved in the process and have an effect on what businesses are supplying and social media has made this a reality.

There are other companies that have effective branding techniques, but the ones we discussed really stood out to us. It is impossible to map out a cookie cutter plan for success, but analyzing what others have done to become successful will put you on the right path. If you are looking for an advertising or marketing strategy that will work for your business, it will require some planning and brainstorming for a technique that will meet your specific business needs. It truly is all about what your customers will want and finding a way to market in such a way that will meet your target’s wants and needs.
