This is a direct mail piece produced for American Express. Basically it’s a small mailing tube, the wick is just a piece of nylon rope making the whole piece look like a fire cracker. On the inside of the piece we had savings coupons. We tied in the 100 year birthday/Fourth of July promotion for Miami Beach merchants. It turned out to be a very successful package for a direct mail program.
Someone said that if you can sell nothing you can sell anything. This package is a great example of marketing techniques used every day to sell ‘things’. When you come and see us ask for your free box, we’d love to send you home with nothing’
